Homework

Skiddaw children are set homework, in their homework folders, every Friday. The children also have access to independent work they can complete using Doodle Learning, Times Table Rock Stars and Purple Mash.   

Times Table Rock Stars is a brilliant way for your child to practise their times tables, to increase the accuracy and the speed of recall.

The children are tested on their spellings every Friday. The spellings will focus on a different spelling rule each week, that we have been learning in class and they will also have common exception words for Year 5 and 6 to learn. New spellings will be set on Fridays with the children's homework. 

Please encourage your child to read as much as possible. Many of our older children enjoy time to immerse themselves in a good novel. Others might enjoy sharing a book with you at home, whether this is listening to them read their reading book or by sharing their weekly library book.

PE

Our timetabled PE sessions for this half term are Tuesday afternoon and Thursday mornings with sport coach Lucy.  Please ensure your child has the correct PE kit in school.

Forest School

Forest School takes place on a Tuesday afternoon once every three weeks, please ensure that your child has a change of clothes, outdoor shoes such as wellies, waterproofs and warm layers to put on.
